Cool Springs
NASCAR Media Group cameraman Gary Johnson found this place a few years back when we were both working on the tv show Totally NASCAR. Don't be fooled by it's strip-mall location. Cool Springs is a great place for eclectic dishes and seafood favorites. Gets big points on the yum-scale. The NASCAR PR staff gives Cool Springs many thumbs up.

Roma Italian Restaurant
Peter "Rabbit" Jellen, long-time transporter driver and crew member with the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Kyle Busch Team, offered up this place to us a few years back. It's a great, affordable Italian place close to the track. It's right near Dover Airforce Base. A favorite of Jason "Eagle" Allison.

Sambo's Tavern
It's a place that you'd only hear about from someone who's been. You won't find this remote location in your travels around Dover Int'l Raceway. Sambo's is off the beaten path but on the radar for nearly everyone in the NASCAR garage. Robby Gordon several of us to Sambo's for the first time several years ago. It's a small seafood restaurant that is usually packed with NASCAR folks. We even saw Jeff Gordon dining there the other year.
Newpaper covered tables and crabs, that's all you really need to know! Get ready to get messy. This place is known for it's crabs and it is essential to roll-up the sleeves and get crackin!

Pleasonton's Seafood
In the battle of local seafood, Pleasonton's is the underdog. This family owned seafood place is more of a seafood market than restaurant. You can go in and order crabs and they will cook it up for you right there or you can bring some back to your hotel. It's as fresh as you can get and full of local-family owned love. Great people and good seafood.

Mari Monti Restorante
Mari Monti is a casual, but more upscale restaurant than some of our other Dover food-finds. It's another "don't be fooled by it's strip-mall location" places. It offers a great menu of gourmet italian dishes. The seafood is fresh and wonderful. MD and all of the folks from Racing Electronics, including owner Bruce Silver, eat there during race weekend.

Helen's Famous Sausage House
It's a simple equation. Take a simple menu, trucker hours and a family recipe of sausage passed down four-generations and it equals Helen's Famous Sausage House. It's been open since 1985 and is a pretty cool lil' family operated place. Sausage lovers, check it out!

Dont Forget the Boondocks...
For those who aren't Sambo's fans, you can try Boondocks. A much friendlier version of Sambo's and a favorite of several people in the NASCAR television industry. If you like piles of crab and fresh seafood? This is a good choice.

Triple header on the high banks. It's a win/win for any NASCAR fan.
No More Wilkesboro
We were saddened to read the news that North Wilkesboro will be closing its doors once again. Go out and support your local track. You never know when it may be gone.

If you don't know what it is... you need to. If you don't know who the field fillers are...then shame on you. Uncle Jack Praises Pappy's
Our friend Matt "Duke" Kentfield has a colorful family. Well, Uncle Jack Kentfield, recently contacted us via phone. He said he would be traveling to St. Louis for business soon and that his wife was checking out some good area eats online. She stumbled upon our video (click here) from Pappy's Smokehouse. They loved the video and went this week to check it out. They gave it "four thumbs up."
Charlotte On the Horizon
Home turf. We like Charlotte race weeks for many reasons. We get to sleep in our own beds. The Hall of Fame activity is always exciting. But most of all, we get to show of the Charlotte area's ever-growning food culture. From barbecue joints, to pizza, we are excited to share some of our favorite spots in a few weeks.
